By After i published an article about how to buy on Amazon from Cameroon, i received so many messages from Cameroonians who wanted to know if its possible to buy on Amazon from Cameroon with Mobile Money and when i say YES! its possible, they will ask how is this possible? What are the procedures to buy on Amazon with Mobile Money???
Almost everyday, i get asked the above questions.
Answering the same questions over and over again is extremely monotonous and time consuming. So i decided to write this post to explain how Cameroonians with MTN, Orange and Express Union Mobile Money accounts can also buy on Amazon like the people with prepaid cards & debit cards.
Without any further delay. Let’s get down to business.
How to buy with Mobile Money on Amazon from Cameroon
As of October, 3rd 2020, US Amazon (Amazon.com) doesn’t accept payments for items via Mobile Money.
In this article i,m going to tell you how you can bypass this barrier and buy any item on Amazon with your Mobile Money account.
Amazon currently accepts only two types of payments which include;
– Prepaid Cards & Debit Cards payment.
Prepaid Cards and debit cards are bankcards issued by most banks in Cameroon which Cameroonians can use for shopping on Amazon and other online shops.
– Amazon Gift Card payments.
Amazon Gift Card is a card pre-loaded with a set amount of money which is used to credit (add funds to) an Amazon account for shopping on Amazon. Amazon gift cards are popularly used for payment by people (like you) who don’t have prepaid cards or debit cards.
An Amazon Gift Card functions like an airtime recharge card. Just like we buy airtime recharge cards from the MTN shops to credit our phones, Amazon Gift cards are also bought and used to credit Amazon accounts for shopping on Amazon “only”.
Amazon Gift Cards are usually sold at various prices. For example, there are $20 Amazon Gift Cards, $50 Amazon Gift Cards etc. You can purchase gift cards up to $10,000 in a single day.
To buy on Amazon with Mobile Money, you just need to purchase an Amazon Gift Card in Cameroon with Mobile Money and then use it to credit your Amazon account, and start shopping on Amazon with the funds in your Amazon account.

How to Buy on Amazon from Cameroon with an Amazon Gift Card
Below are the procedures/steps you need to follow in order to buy on Amazon with a Mobile Money account.
1) Create an account on the US Amazon website (website).
Sign up is free!. Just visit the Amazon.com website and fill their registration form with the required info. If you are finding it difficult to create an Amazon account, you can contact me on Whatsapp and i will guide you on how to do that.
2) Purchase an Amazon Gift Card.
Ok! after you have created your Amazon account, you can then purchase an Amazon Gift card to credit your Amazon account.
Amazon Gift Cards are sold on the Amazon website. Without a prepaid card or Debit card, you can’t purchase an Amazon Gift card directly from the Amazon website. Like i mentioned earlier, Amazon does not accept Mobile Money payments. So you will need to buy Amazon Gift cards from Cameroon using Mobile Money through a third party seller (middleman)
To make Amazon Gift cards accessible to Cameroonians with Mobile Money accounts, I and other internet entrepreneurs in Cameroon (who own Prepaid/debit cards) often buy Amazon Gift Cards from Cameoon and sell to Cameroonians with Mobile Money accounts.
I sell Amazon e-Gift Cards whose prices range from $50 to $1000. So if you wish to buy any item on Amazon whose price tag fall within that price range, you can contact me and i will offer you an Amazon Gift Card.

How to Credit your Amazon Account with an Amazon Gift Card.
Like i mentioned earlier, what i and other internet entrepreneurs in Cameroon sell, is the intangible Amazon e-Gift card.
Below is a screenshot of a $50 Amazon e-Gift which i bought from Amazon to credit my Amazon account.
So when you purchase a Amazon e-Gift card from me with Mobile Money, what you will receive is just the 14 digit claim code of the Amazon Gift card; which is the most important thing you need to credit your Amazon account.
The claim code of your Amazon e-Gift Card will be sent to you via SMS, Email or Whatsapp.
After you have received your claim code, you just need to sign in on the Amazon website and follow the procedures below to credit your Amazon account.
1) After you have logged in to the Amazon website, hover your mouse icon over the Account & Lists link found beneath your name on the Amazon website… and then click on the “Your Account” as seen in the screenshot below.
2) Click on the Gift cards link to go to the Gift card reload section of the Amazon website.
After you have clicked on the Gift cards link, you will be expected to “log in again” (for security motive) before you are ushered to the Gift card section of the Amazon website.
Ok after you re-sign in, you will be taken to the Gift card section of Amazon website; where you will be able to redeem an Amazon gift card.

Take note: The process of transferring funds from an Amazon Gift card to an Amazon account is described as “redeeming of Amazon Gift cards”. So don’t get intimidated whenever you see word redeem.

To redeem your Amazon Gift card, you just need to click on the Redeem a Gift card link and then enter the 13 digit CLAIM CODE which i sent to you (via SMS/Email) after purchasing an Amazon Gift card from me.
For plastic Amazon gift cards, you may need to scratch off the coating on the back of the card to reveal the claim code.
Now enter the 14 digit claim code which i sent to you. From the screenshot below, you can see that i have entered the 14 digit claim code of the Amazon e-Gift card i just bought from Amazon using my UBA prepaid card.
Enter your claim code and click Apply to Your Balance.
From the screenshot below, you can see that the $50 cash in my $50 Amazon e-Gift card has been deposited in to Amazon account.
I can now start shopping on Amazon with the $50 in my Amazon account. When the money in my Amazon account gets finished, i can still buy another Amazon Gift card and reload my Amazon account.
It should be noted that the funds in your Amazon account doesn’t expire i.e. you can use the money in your Amazon account to buy any item on Amazon anytime. You won’t be charged any fee.

As of October, 2nd, 2020, Mobile Money is the most affordable banking and payment solution, offered by the Mobile Networks in Cameroon. It is a popular alternative to both cash and banks because it’s easy to use, secure and can be used anywhere there is a mobile phone signal.
The low requirements for opening a Mobile Money account has made the service extremely popular in Cameroon. Anybody can just walk in to their local MTN office and open a Mobile Money account with just a photocopy of their valid national ID and 300frs for initial deposit…unlike the banks in Cameroon which requires a long list of documents including proof of source of income, tax identification number and 50,000 for innitial deposit before they can open an account for you.
About 60 percent of the population of Cameroon now have a Mobile Mobile money account. Owing to the aforementioned fact, i strongly believe that this article will greatly boost eCommerce in Cameroon as Cameroonians (people from all walks of life) will (as from today) start shopping on Amazon with their Mobile Money accounts just like they have been buying on Jumia and other Cameroon online shops with Mobile money.
