It may surprise you to know that despite the numerous opportunities that YouTube presents, it won’t cost you a franc to create a YouTube channel.
The only thing you will need in order to create your Youtube channel is a Gmail account.
Nowadays almost every Cameroonian has a Gmail account (@gmail.com email). If you have ever downloaded an app from the Google play store, then you already have a Gmail account.

Below are 7 simple procedures you need to follow in order to create a Gmail account in Cameroon for free…
1. Click on this link, to go to the Google Account creation page.
2. Enter your name.
3. In the “Username” field, enter the username you want for your Account.
4. Enter and confirm your password.
5. Click Next.
6. Verify your mobile phone number with the code sent via text.
7. Click Verify.

In the next phase enter your phone number and date of birth.
Leave the recovery email option empty (Don’t enter anything there)

How to Create a YouTube channel in Cameroon (Step by Step Procedures with Screenshots).
- After you have created your Gmail account, click here to go to Youtube.com.
- After the YouTube website has loaded on your browser, click on the icon found at the top right hand corner of the Youtube website as seen in the screenshot below…
3. After you have clicked on that icon, you will see a list of menu items as seen in the screenshot below. Click on the Create a channel link.
After you have clicked on the Create a channel link, an info box will pop up on your screen, which contains brief information about what Vlogging is all about.
The message reads as follows…
Pursuing your creative passions, connecting with your audience and sharing your stories begin with creating your channel.
After reading the brief info, if you wish to proceed to the next phase to create your Youtube channel, click on the blue GET STARTED button or click on NO THANKS! if won’t like to Create a channel anymore (after reading the info).
4) Choose a name for your Youtube channel.
After you clicked on the Get started button, you will be asked to choose a name for your Youtube channel.
Two options have been provided by Youtube as seen in the screenshot below.
Option 1: You can either choose to create your YouTube channel using the name associated to your Gmail account OR….
Option 2: You can choose to give your YouTube channel the name of your brand or any custom name of your choice. Many Cameroonian Youtubers often choose option 2; which gives them the privileged to use any name of their choice.
To choose option 2, click on the select button.
5) Create your Channel name!
At this phase, you just need to enter the name of your YouTube channel. After you have entered the name of your channel, tick the agreement box below and then click on the CREATE button.
After you have clicked on the Create button, your Youtube channel will be created and ready for you to start uploading videos for Youtube users to watch.
Take note that you can still change the name of your YouTube channel after your Youtube channel has been created. So if you still haven’t figured out a good name to use for your channel, you can enter a temporal name and after your channel has been created, you can change it.
